The Stealth is the successor to the Durango, discontinued after a decade-long run. The Stealth is an entirely new vehicle that shares its platform and powertrain with the Jeep Grand Cherokee L but has distinctive styling and features. The Stealth is also expected to offer a hybrid or electric option, making it one of the most advanced and efficient SUVs in its class.
Design: Exterior and Interior
The Stealth’s exterior design is inspired by the original Stealth sports car from the 1990s, a rebadged Mitsubishi 3000GT. The Stealth has a sleek and muscular profile with a prominent grille, LED headlights, and a sculpted hood. The side view reveals a sloping roofline, flared wheel arches, and a famous character line. The rear end features a spoiler, dual exhaust tips, and an LED light bar that spans the width of the tailgate.
With room for up to seven people, the Stealth’s interior is opulent and roomy. A 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system that enables wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to dominate the dashboard. Along with cup holders and a wireless charging pad, the center console features a rotary dial for the driving and gearbox modes. Depending on the trim level, the leather or cloth upholstery on the seats can be used for heating, ventilation, and massaging. There are bench seats or captain’s chairs in the second row and adequate space for adults in the third. When the back seats are folded, the cargo space expands to a volume of up to 84.6 cubic feet.
Powertrain
The 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six Hurricane engine, which replaces the Hemi V-8 in the Dodge range, is the foundation for the Stealth’s powertrain. The Hurricane engine, which has rear-wheel or all-wheel drive 390 pound-feet of torque and 375 hp, is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The STLA Large platform, intended for electric vehicles, may be utilized by the hybrid or electric variant of the Stealth. Although the specifics of the electric or hybrid powertrain are unknown, it may provide greater power and range than the gas engine.
Release Date and Price
The Stealth is expected to sell in late 2024 as a 2025 model-year vehicle. The pricing of the Stealth is not yet announced, but it could start close to $40,000, which is competitive with other midsize SUVs in its segment. The Stealth will compete with rivals such as the Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Volkswagen Atlas.
